| Description: |
Urtica
is the name of the Stinging Nettle commonly
encountered on wasteland as a weed. It has,
however, been treasured for a long time by herbalists
as and excellent 'blood tonic'
|
| How
it works: |
Nettle
has a diuretic action, attributed to flavonoids which
increase the excretion of a number of waste substances

metabolites. This action is of particular
benefit in gout and arthritic conditions.
Urtica has a nutritive
value, containing vitamin C, iron, calcium, potassium
and silica, which explains its tonic action.
